La Jolla Farms Real Estate Search

La Jolla Farms is one of the nation’s most elite neighborhoods. “The Farms,” as it is locally known, was originally a 200-acre parcel that was subdivided in the 1950’s by owner William Black, a prominent La Jolla developer. William Black’s original estate is owned by the University of California San Diego and is used as the private residence of the University Chancellor.

Initially, La Jolla Farms was comprised of equestrian properties, but after further development in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the neighborhood became renowned for its grand custom-designed estates, which exhibit a panorama of architectural styles. Ranging in size from ¾ acre to 5 acres, Farms estates are priced in the millions. La Jolla Farms is located within easy walking distance of the Estancia Hotel and Spa, University of California San Diego campus, the La Jolla Playhouse, Torrey Pines Golf Course, La Jolla Gliderport, Birch Aquarium, Scripps Institute, Scripps Hospital, Salk Research Institute, and La Jolla’s world-renowned beaches. In fact, situated on 300-foot-high cliffs above the Pacific Ocean, most homes in the Farms offer sweeping ocean views. The world-famous Black’s Beach is located below, and can be reached via a hike down the sandstone bluffs—but Farms residents each receive a highly-coveted key which opens a gate to a private access road!
